The GR 223 or more commonly known as the "Sentier des Douaniers" is a pedestrian route that stretches all over the Cotentin from Denneville beach to Utah Beach. With its 300km of winding path the customs trail was used for coastal surveillance to avoid or limit smuggling with the Channel Islands until the early 20th century.
Whether you are an experienced walker or a simple walker, let yourself be guided by this path which will never cease to surprise you. From coves to coves and from cap to cap you will be seduced by the diversity and the beauty of the landscapes.
Sometimes steep, sometimes hilly, this walking trail always surprises with the variety and contrasts of its landscapes. The exuberant nature offers the walker of the trail a spectacle of shadows and lights, colors and smells. An experience to live!
